They're only going to deadhead you on UA flights. To go to training out of COS they'll likely send you COS-DEN-SLC on UAL. Once you get into CASS about two weeks into training you'll be able to take Delta back home direct.
Or just drive to DEN instead of trying to fly it...
CASS entry took 3 full weeks for our ground school class. I was able to jumpseat home on the last weekend before our systems exam.
