Well the NTSB report states that they received 3 initial ECAM warnings, not sure what the priority is on those 3 and if 3.70.19 EGT Overlimit was the first one for them to go to.
They did receive an EPR mode fault ECAM. So the #1 engine may have degraded into N1 unrated mode, and provided an overboost.
