If you are flying on your days off and not breaking guarantee you are effectively working and risking your certificate for free for the benefit of having less time off.
If it wasn't for picking up trips on my days off, I wouldn't have touched an airplane in a month. For a new guy off IOE, I don't feel that's safe. There's only so much chair-flying one can do to remember how to fly the darn thing....
