That way you don't have the "do I put in for a GS or WS?" decision, where the pilot has to make a best guess based on a lot of factors, and after the fact never has to say "had I but known that junior guys were getting GSs then I wouldn't have put in a WS"... or vice versa.
I'm not even sure that I am in favor of such a system. All pay systems have their pros and cons. But this is a discussion that will no doubt continue.
That seems more fair. But a been-counter would prefer the current system vs paying everyone 1.5x over 80. Plus, there has to be a carrot for picking up a trip on short notice.
