Sometimes I think the Mad Dog has a bad rep among new hires just because of misleading posts on this forum. New guys need to realize that about half of what you read on here about the MD-88 being some sort of medieval slave ship is said in jest. We like to have fun with it around here. The Rube Goldberg whiskey compass mirrors are an easy target.
It has its quirks for sure, but its a good solid jet.
I certainly wouldn't avoid it for the wrong reasons.
If it gets you to the base you want or a better quality of life or a bigger paycheck, I wouldn't hesitate to bid it.
Oil stains on your shirt and glycol in your coffee means you're part of the club.
