Northwest (I think it was JC actually but I am not sure) subpoenaed one of my friend's IP on flightinfo.com years ago. He posted a flame bait and it became so successful that it spread like fire on the line and ****ed of many pilots. It was a joke. NW sent lawyers after him. They got to him and when it turned out he was not a NW pilot they let him go free. So do not think this thread is 100% safe either. If they really want they can go after you unless you took some serious precautions when you signed up.
1- I agree on the DP hysteria. Other than the fact people don't like getting screamed at, I don't see the issue. In fact, it's kind of fun watching him get spooled up.
2- Maybe people think if they post under their own name, and God forbid they need the protection they have been paying for for years, find an unsympathetic MEC due to a post on your sans anonymity board.
3- I don't think anyone would post anything here we would not want management to see, much less be subpoena worthy. The point on the legal end is that ALPA - whom we each pay thousands to each year- used legal wrangling to silence our voice and stop the exchange of information between members. They feel the need to control the narrative and independent thought (unless it is MEC approved) is not only frowned upon, but will be stifled if given a legal opportunity. They used our own money to shut us up... awesome play. Step out of line and they will shut you down too.
