How about we stop worrying about what the NMB thinks too!!!
This isn't directed at you sailing, but on my list of tired cop-outs is this idea that we can't ask for too much because the NMB will get angry with us. Let's hit them with some data about how far behind our industry is, in terms of pay, from where we were in buying power in the 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's and today.
To offset the argument that we will make our company less competitive if they have to pay us too much more than our peers, let's put the biggest pay raises a little later in the contract where UAL and AMR will be in negotiations for their next contract. That way, while Delta might be at a pilot cost disadvantage for a short while, the other majors will be close behind in pattern bargaining off of our contract.
I've got many more solutions to the Worlds problems tonight, I found a 6 pack of Torpedo's at my grocery store tonight and thought I'd give it a try. Thank God for the profit sharing check, $9.99 for a six pack is a little steep for my blood, but it is a solid beer.
I'm going to stop posting until my BAC is at a more reasonable level.
Have a great weekend guys and girls, E
