I'm in the middle @ Allegiant & moved up 3 numbers which equates to an annual attrition of 2% - 2 percent among the captains, the most qualified with type ratings & Part 121 jet PIC. Some want to stay, a lot are looking hard; the current job-search environment is extremely frustrating, some would say demoralizing.
While it'd be nice to stay, I'm keeping all options open. Getting a call from a legacy right now is very hard it seems. For United I've been told you need 7-9 internal recs or chase them around the country to at least 3 or 4 job fairs. Not sure about DAL or AA, but probably about the same. Even Spirit and JetBlue seem to need a job fair or two to get looked at. With the new pay rates even VX is attractive.
