Here is the thing....we screwed ourselves. People wanted a free ride (bought off trip)...new rule from FAA wasn't going to let that happen. We need 4 crew in pit during IOE now..period!
So now the few that wanted to double-dip (because "that is the way it used to happen") have managed to hurt us all... Cheers to them...
So what would your solution be? When you get hosed in the future, should the union simply ignore those provisions of the contract as well and give you the wave off? Or should the union protect them? When
your seniority is being abrogated, shall we just whistle Dixie and shuffle off with our tails between our legs?
It is after all, a contract. We are expected to uphold our end and so should the company. Further, I don't think the majority of guys want to "double-dip". They just want to fly the trip which their
seniority allows them to hold. And if the company needs that seat, then they should accommodate that pilot. Clearly just screwing the guys who were reassigned isn't the only solution to the companies problem. Its a shame that you seem to think so.
