I have about 400 hours in the G1000 and while it is a GA system and maybe even good for the local rich guy's plane, I don't feel like it is a good "commercial" system. There are just several things that you can't do with it that you can do with the PL21 and even the UNS1. Proline itself seems to have tried to idiot proof the system but it is easy to work around the things you need to and get what you want.

James, a good example is doing an approach. Say you are coming from the East and shooting the ILS for RW9. If you want to start at the initial the G1000 actually won't go to that point. It will factor in the distance it needs to make the turn and take that away from the point so you may be a mile or so in front of the point you want to be at making a turn. Yes I know stateside you would never be doing a 180 degree turn to intercept an ILS but I am not in the states. This is over simplified but you get the picture. Also with the work I do, sometimes you actually need to fly over a specific point and not just turn somewhere that the Garmin has deemed close enough.
