I would say you need to study to some extent but only to know where things are quickly. You'll waste most of your time reading the questions so don't mess around looking things up for too long. Definitely DO NOT study only ATP test questions unless they've recently changed the test. There are questions about international ops, more detailed weather theory, etc.
Unconfirmed as some of the guys I've helped recently are slack at getting back to me. But I believe the test is on basically it's THIRD revision. With most if not all the questions coming from the ATP.
Versus some obscure crap written by an office lackey in the head shed.
