Noobs, new tough guys... I don't think the terms are mutually exclusive. Looks like I hit a nerve with the noob comment. I know a lot of the new hires aren't noobs per se, so allow me to better define what a noob is to me:
- If you have never flown an airplane for hire without a moving map or GPS... you might me a noob
- If you feel the uncontrollable urge to "shoot a line" because a moving map just doesn't provide you the situational awareness necessary for safe operation... there is a possibility you are a noob.
- If you have no idea what CLAMP stands for... chances are high that you're a noob.
- If tuning your own ILS frequency is an emergency situation... you are most likely a noob.
- If you are unable to track your own schedule without the assistance of the interwebs... you're a noob.
Now that you know if you're a noob or not, I have a question for the noobs. Once I get my ipad and trade in my old guy leather flight bag with tens of millions of miles on it for my North Face backpack with the earbuds hanging out of the side, is proper terminal etiquette to one-strap it or two-strap it?
