Default AA cancels 961 DFW flights due to storm

Next few days are gonna be challenging for everyone

American Airlines Group cancels close to a thousand flights Monday | Dallas Morning News

With an ice/sleet storm expected to sweep across North Texas late Sunday and into Monday, American Airlines Group has cancelled 961 Monday flights systemwide, the carrier said Sunday evening.

Most of the cancellations are for its American Airlines and regional airline flights, but also some flights by its US Airways unit.

The vast majority of the cancellations are tied to the anticipated bad weather hitting Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

At midday Sunday, Southwest Airlines said it was keeping an eye on the situation. As of 7:30 p.m., FlightStats.com showed only a few cancellations out of Dallas Love Field.

NOTE: AA originally cited 961 cancellations at D/FW Airport, but subsequently clarified/corrected to state that the 961 cancellations were throughout its system.

D/FW spokesman David Magana said that airlines had cancelled about 160 D/FW flights Sunday, and about half of the flights scheduled for Monday.
