Today in CLT I witnessed 4 passengers run to the gate at 8:13 pm for an 8:20. Agent refused to board them citing that the flight was closed, and closed the door and walked down. They had been at special services getting rebooked. Next flight (last flight out) was oversold, no chance for them. They blew an entire day traveling and still ended up stuck because of the "new" goal of closing the door at D-10.
Only reason I made it on is because I plastered myself to the window of the terminal and the pilots told the agent to come get me. There were plenty of open seats.
If we keep treating people like we do, especially after irreg ops, we're not going to have many more customers.
Delta did a survey a couple years ago, asking passengers, would you rather flights run really late or cx and get rebooked. The answer was run the flights! So they do. They don't cancel. Seems Airways has always been gun-shy about running flights really late getting people where they need to go. That is, after all, the business we are pretending to be in. Frustrating seeing the company operate and not being able to do anything about it.
