Basically because you got the type they assume that SWA is your #1 and therefore anyone else is chopped liver. Is there any truth to this or is this just forum gossip?
I was told by someone involved in hiring that it all depends on why you have it. If the government gave you money for flight training (GI Bill or unemployment grant) and you thought it would be good to get typed in a glass airplane to improve your resume and such that will make sense. But they've never asked for the type rating so if you don't have a good answer like this they will figure you got it for SWA. Alaska is big on being your #1 choice to work for. They are different from SWA in so many ways, from bases to operation to upgrade time, etc so you have to make it a good sell. I'm not saying you have less of a chance by any means, just be prepared to answer the question at job fairs and the interview. If well explained it could definitely help your chances.
