It's a L-US thing. Years ago they implemented it and have placed tremendous pressure on gate agents to close the door. Everything is tracked, yes even the jetway door closing.

Their goal was on-time departures which leads to on-time arrivals. In fact, if you read the new stuff coming out recently, there is yet again a renewed focus on this program, which is not surprising since the folks running the show are L-US.

Our customers are leaving, look at the recent DFW vs. DAL numbers, when people have a choice they don't take us. We have always ranked at the bottom or near the bottom of customer satisfaction for years.
