I agree with you, he should be on a full time buy. The airline is growing and with a pilot group of over 1100 pilots now, ALPA positions on a full time buy is not only standard, its necessary.

Problem is the pilots who assume any ALPA volunteer, I say again, volunteer, who take any kind of flight pay loss, is screwing the system over. The anti MEC conspiracy theorists will come with their pitch forks and scream for heads.

That being said, I think at a minimum the MEC chair and NC should be on full time buys currently and the Scheduling Committee should have buys along withe Grievance Committee, for a few members to help DO THE WORK OF THE PILOTS, not "vacation on a union dime," like many assume they do. Rules should be in place to allow them to be compensated what they would make on the line, without being able to double dip and pick up more time and fly ontop of what their buy out is.

We are going to battle and to have our front line soldiers prep for this battle and fly RSW turns is insane. Totally insane.
