I'm glad we had these tests. If DAL hiring were to instead insert me into a realistic simulation where I have to taxi the jet from the gate to the runway I'd have failed for sure. I figure there is a 10% chance of me actually getting to key the mic to get out of the ramp. 50% chance I'll understand my clearance once it is passed to me, 50% chance I read back what I think I heard, and 25% chance I'll hear my callsign when ground calls to change my clearance. By my math that's like a 6% chance of successfully taxiing once I can finally get a word in edge-wise. I'd be flying rubber dogshlt out of Hong Kong if that had been the test.
