If you live at home great, if you commute to your crash pad to sit LC/SC not so great. I assume they'll get it figured out in a couple more months. In the meantime it is frustrating when there are only 2 reserve required (using today as an example), yet scheduling has 7 on LC and 5 on SC. I know sitting SC is part of the gig, but sitting SC just because they can sit us SC is annoying. It's like they get docked pay if every single person on reserve hasn't been used 6/6 times on SC for the month.
The last number I saw showed that system wide the number of shortcalls is averaging under 3 per reserve pilot. If they are sticking people on short call for no reason talk to your reps. They have in the past been able to make adjustments. We used to have airport standby for the shuttle which is now gone so they may want more shortcalls.
