I do this at Spirit regularly and it's awesome. I asked numerous captains when I was new if this was acceptable or if there was any unwritten rules that would make this practice frowned upon. I live equidistant between two bases and it really helped get through first year pay.
Its not frowned down on as an FO and only as a CA if you dare touch the DOT flying in FLL.
I spoke to a crew on an ORD pairing the other day, both based in different domiciles but picked up the trip for some extra coin. Its great that they can do that and that you can to as well.
