Does the captain always fly the plane?
I know charter pilots are required to do checkrides every 6 months. So is that for both the captain and the FO ?
We fly about half, maybe less of our legs empty. You can get simulated instrument time on every empty leg. We fly IFR anyway most of the time. You will not lack for actual instrument time.
Captains and FOs generally swap legs, depending on the captain.
Captains are required to do their annual recurrent plus a 6 month IPC since we also adhere to 135. FOs require an annual check per 135, and the company also requires a 6 month evaluation.
