I certainly never expected it and always offered to pay, but I think I bought 1 or 2 meals my entire first year at United. The EWR 320 guys were very generous in that regard. My first trip off IOE a couple years ago the 60+ yr old CA asked for separate checks on our first cheap dinner. I did not expect to be treated but found it kind of funny.
That said, even approaching 3rd year pay I have a lot of CAs who insist on buying at least one meal.
