I almost got bumped off a commute when 100 F9 folks got rebooked on to Southwest OKC-DEN. So it happens. Last flight of the night, it showed mostly empty when I booked it. Got to the gate and it was madness.
And yes, their bags flew for free.
Did this happen recently? Perhaps it's just United and my brain extrapolated the rest.
