Probably because although a foreign carrier might bring in freight, they'd have no way of dispersing the stuff. They don't have the Infrastructure for pick up and delivery. Thankfully.

Not sure of all the facts here but US Pax airlines fly to a foreign city then back. We fly out, get a reset, then keep going for 6-12 days. How would turning our 12 trips into 3 day trips affect pilot manning? The pilots at Pax airlines wouldn't mind doing that to us for the "Greater Good", which is growth and prosperity for the big three. They are very happy to carry our freight in the belly now.
How very naive of you to think they would cancel our contracts. That's emotional. This is business.
Yes, FedEx ALPA. FedEx MEC Chairman clearly stated at a hub turn meeting (a year ago?) that Emirates and the foreign carrier threat was a big deal to us (Fedex Pilots) and that management should come to the table and sign a contact with the FedEx pilots so that we can put that aside and worry about the bigger issue (Open Skies threats).
This is why I was very surprised to see management FedEx come out against Open Skies.
