There is no telling what hiring will be like at DAL in 2025 much less 2020. That said right now the degree is a big deal but people should always apply to any job and let the employer figure out If they meet their criteria.
And I don't disagree with that, NEVER HAVE. But the gross generalization that it somehow magically makes someone a better/well rounded person in THIS DAY AND AGE is, well, a gross generalization. I didn't go to ERAU, but when I was in college/learning to fly, it was expensive then. But back then, it was ACTUALLY a pretty decent school with a respected program/curriculum. Fast forward and it's NOTHING but a profit orientated pilot mill.
And NO, I'm NOT saying people SHOULD pursue an aviation degree. SIMPLY using it as an example of how colleges have transformed. And reading the thread, I'm NOT the only one with that viewpoint.

But in my personal experience I watched a couple of people leave college early to get their seniority number going with the intent to finish college as they work. Never seemed to work out.
And this hiring round, I have seen people that it has worked out for. Just like pilots are getting hired WITHOUT a masters, without a 3.0 GPA, without TPIC, with DUI's, with multiple check ride failures, and whatever else we can think of that's been discussed ad nauseam....
