SNA now has customs and immigration. SWA and Volaris fly to Mexico. The airport even offered incentives to start service to Mexico when they opened the facility. Alaska had the usual excuses for why they didn't want the free money.
I hate that we let SWA get more than a year's head start on the route to establish themselves. I'm sure we evaluated the fares over that period and decided we needed to get some of that. Either that or it's tit for tat on SWA flying more nonstops from socal to the Northwest.
