It wasn't very long ago that if something was not proscribed it was allowed, so long as no laws or regs were violated. What have we come to?
If it's not in the contract; it's negotiated with a side letter. AlPA gives up something or trades something and the company agrees to the negotiations. That is how it usually works. Same thing with the company, if they want something, they give something up and ALPA agrees and signs another side letter. That's just the way most unions do business.
