I'm not sure if you missed my post (#392) or ignored it because it refuted the points you were trying to make, but I will again quote the GAO report from last February:


While there were over 72,000 airline pilots employed in 2012, FAA data show a total of 137,658 active pilots under the age of 65 who held ATP certificates, as of January 6, 2014
And again, "active pilot" was defined as a pilot holding a valid medical certificate.
