At this point the training contract is just a rumor. Currently new hires are not being asked to sign it, although I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they brought it back. Frontier really doesn't like spending 40 grand to bring on a new pilot just to see them leave.

It is amazing how cyclical this industry and career is. We swing from regionals having pilots pay them to fly, to signing bonuses and retention bonuses. I sure hope the pendulum swings our way for a long time
