Which part about comparing this profession to doctors is a joke? The idea that training is expensive? Or the idea that the job is serious? If a doctor goes through his training and makes a mistake on his first patient, how many people die? If a new-hire f/o makes a mistake at his new rj job, how many people might die? Nah, this stuff isn't serious and shouldn't be treated as such... Its all such a joke..

There are high school dropouts with a GED getting hired at regionals right now who failed 4+ primary checkrides and went from the front desk at jiffy lube to the right seat in less than two years.
It's not even a comparison.
