So....sounds like as soon as there is an opening in one you are eligible to run for, then you are throwing your name in the hat? I'll expect to see it. Otherwise you will be just what JJ is implying F.O.S. and should be generally slammed against.
This wasn't about you FreightDawgyDog....so don't be defensive... JetJock was conveying a compliment towards TonyC congratulating him on the uncommon commitment that he is showing towards the betterment of his crew force. The proof is in the pudding....how many others have stepped up that post on here?
JetJock is right, lots of vitriol, very little vitality in this effort to "throw the bums out".
I have only heard from one other guy who was intent on a recall and was serious about running for the LEC....but only if he had to. (No I'm not talking about Albie....because he is defering last I heard)
Even Albie, who I admire, and is generally even-handed, is not willing at this time to step up. We all have our personal commitments/limfacs that keep us from doing it... again, the proof is in the pudding. JetJock is right about me too...I don't like what happened, but I don't have the desire to put the rest of my personal agenda on hold to try to make a bunch of pilots feel "represented".
I am not happy about the age 60 thing, (I let DW know personally.....and he graciously indulged me)....but I am not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater, especially because I don't want the job, and in the big picture, I don't think I can do a better job.
My Ox has been gored, but I'll move on.....I am also not going to "find things wrong with the contract" that we so enthusiastically ratified just because we suddenly think that the MEC is part of the illuminati and is secretly working against us for the benefit of the old guys and Fred.
I never expected to agree with those guys one hundred percent, (just like we didn't expect they would agree with each other 100 percent)...I am not a fair weather sailor......I didn't disown my father when he pi$$ed me off, I don't disown my kids when they pi$$ me off.
I will also prudently review any LOA for foreign domiciles that comes out, and if the Negotiating Committee thinks it's a good deal...(since the Negotiating Committee speaks for me) more than likely I will vote for it, since on my own, I don't think I could get another $25 a week more from Fred in stipend.....just not gonna happen.
Especially since I probably won't bid either place with small children, I don't want to kill a good (at least better than we have now deal) for those that want to go. It would be perfect for a single guy, or a couple with no kids, or an over sixty guy with kids out of the house...particularly if all those guys are senior to me in the domicile I'm at.
