I've jumpseated with US several times internationally. Each time I've passed through CLT or PHL on my outbound. I've just gone to the in-concourse special services counters (near the gates, not before security). The agents there are very knowledgeable. Just ask to pay your taxes and fees for the return, and they will list you and take your payment. Then when you're at the international station days later looking to return to the USA, you only have to go to a checkin counter and get a standy pass to proceed through security. It's always been very easy doing it. I haven't done this for the past year though, but I wouldn't think the method I've outlined would have changed.
