I completely understand what you are saying, but here is the delima for many of us. We have had our apps in for years (7+) and have been talking to so many and trying the networking approach to our best. We've also been to all the career fairs, conventions, etc and stood in line to speak to the Delta people. Some of us just want Delta so much that we have exhausted all we know how to. We've taken the upgrade at first grab, done admin, training, volunteering, etc. to get our resumes where they need to be. All the while others around us are getting the invite and some have more, but some have less experience. Several of these by the way aren't near as ambitious and could care less if the went to DAL, UAL, AA, SWA, etc.

I for one don't envy AK and his selection team at all because how do you choose a few at a time when there are so many to choose from?

We want to be on the side of the fence as guys like you looking over, but there are times when we wonder when it will come and when it does come how much seniority will we have lost.

My point was to state what was said. Truthfully if I hear that they are looking at something and they expect it from a certain group in the industry to have, but outside of our control we can't attain it, it is a little discouraging. At the conventions they say "just become a LCA", already tried that any and every way I know how - just won't happen due to a shrinking company.

Anyway, I and many wish it was different, but hopefully those of us who are deeply pursuing and been doing so for years will get noticed. I rest my case .

Love this post. I starting feeling like I was the only one having a pity party over here. (I don't mean that in a hateful way). Three parts that stick out:

1.) App in for 7+yrs. I'm with you. The poster above puts his app in and within a month gets an invite but we are just sitting over here twiddling our thumbs for years.

2.) "Just become an LCA..." Such an ignorant statement from people that know how this industry works. Yeah, I'm not an LCA because I chose not to be! I personally want to be one and have almost every LCA in my base willing to go to bat for me but the company will never let me be one because of being a union committee chairman. So yeah...volunteer vs LCA.

3.) The "I don't care where I go" attitude. These people are getting pulled up and they couldn't care less. Me...Delta has been my whole life's work. I literally have routed everything I have ever done to be a Delta pilot. Unfortunately for me, I listened to some advice early on from some Delta management people and did what they said and it has come back to bite me. (Not going to an aviation university because "I just needed a 4yr degree in anything".) In their defense, 10yrs ago there hiring wasn't like it was now. I am a legacy and up until 2012, legacy's were held really high and most early classes were filled with them. Now, they have removed the legacy option from the app and it really doesn't get you anywhere.
