IMHO, I believe that any merger between DAL and AS is likely not going to happen because of the current overlap in route structure. I'm not sure that it would be approved by the Judiciary Commitee. It's been increasingly more difficult for each carrier's merger petition (NWA-DAL, CAL-UAL, AMR-USA).
