If there were a Regional Airline Pilots Association (RAPA) not connected to ALPA, this might actually be feasible.
And if ALPA national was really forward thinking and not in mgmt's back pocket (2 immediate disqualifiers), it would see how such a thing could be leveraged to it's members own benefit as well.
In fact, this is probably the best path to undoing the damage wrought by allowing the creation of the regionals in the 1st place. Which is why it will never, ever happen (see: disqualifiers).
