Flew with a CA who has been recording the DB level of the 73 cockpit on his flights. 73-75DB in the 800's. The 900's are considerably less noisy at around 67DB. It's pretty loud up there!
I'm always amazed how many people use the on board headsets. How about noise canceling headsets and hot mike capability in the next contract? It's ridiculous to jumpseat on SWA and they're having a nice quiet conversation on hot mike while we're up there with one ear cup off yelling at each other. We can sell it as a reduction in future health care costs.
