How serious are you about flying for a career? It seems, you are uncommitted, which is a great way to waste a lot of time and money in this business. Flight training is EXPENSIVE. It takes a lot of time and consistency to move ahead, esp. in instrument training. You need sim time and actual (or hood) time in the cockpit. Learning to fly IFR in the plane is the WORST thing to do. You need solid skills in the sim, before going aloft. Usually only a dedicated flight school can provide this kind of consistency--but it ain't cheap.

Also, you can get a VFR only commercial license which would allow you to get into crop dusting, but that takes time as well, you need to show any potential employer you are committed. You can't make a living flying skydivers, it isn't regular work and doesn't pay enough.
