When you're a jumpseater you are part of the the crew. I'm not giving up my positive space seat in back to ride in cockpit & be part of the crew. Non-revs that don't get on can take the next flight. If I were non-revving I would never expect a crew member to sit in jumpseat so I or one of my family members could get on.
It's a personal choice. If you don't want to do it then dont.
I will say I've helped, and been helped, in this situation multiple times. If I can pay it forward and help out a fellow commuter or employee's family member then I will absolutely do so. IMO it's just the right thing to do. Getting around is hard enough lately as it is. If we can help one another out, then why not?
