Well, I work at SkyWest and I'd have to say that from the inside looking out (I've never worked there), Horizon is a better regional. In some ways. Better pay, work rules, etc. But unfortunately the upgrade time is pretty long and you may end up retiring there. Not to say that that's a bad thing.
Keep a positive attitude and you will go far. Congrats and good luck in ground school.
For me a regional is nothing more than another stepping stone. SKW, Xjet, HZN, etc... all just different steps on the staircase. Spending the rest of my career at a regional is ludicrous in my opinion but different strokes for different folks. More power to those who stay long term. Have fun!
