That's exactly the plan for most guys. I left EK with zero debt and over $100k in the bank. Granted I came back to a legacy, but I have no PIC time and was picked up quickly by a major because of the heavy time. American FO's at Emirates aren't going to stick around for the long upgrade there with the current hiring situation going on in the US.
