What I learned on Tuesday at the MEC meeting:
Article 8 (Section 8?) proceedings to remove from office against Jim Ackerman (the new MEC Chairmen) for attempting to have Doug Poletti disciplined by taking the private conversations between him and a Doug to Spirit HR and the Chief Pilot's office (Chris Russing). How can we trust this guy who turned a pilot over to management?
Jason Leonard has been taping all phone conversations with members. Jesus, is that even legal?
The negotiating committee was consulted and specifically recommended against this course of action and supported the Council 18 rep position that the switch should be made at the next election cycle when Chris and Paul indicated they would not seek re-election.
No other committee chairmen were consulted.
The debate over the recall was moved to a closed session on a motion by Jim Ackerman and a party line vote by the status reps. This denied Chris and Paul the opportunity to defend against the accusations in front of the membership. Subsequently, the claims went un-substantiated since they were no longer in office.
They were recalled over not running meetings the right way and hurt feelings. The best interests of the pilot group were not considered.
Widespread belief that this will damage the negotiating committee in their effort to get us a contract. Bendo dancing a jig.
It appears that all of the pilots they had lined up to take the vice-chairmen and secretary-treasurer positions have declined the offer.
Didn't go on Wednesday.
