Here I am. Ready to defend my actions.
Here we go. And by the way, reply and I'll do my best to answer your questions and concerns.
I'm sipping on coffee so forgive me if I miss huge sections of details lol just point out individually and I'll answer them. I just read from 10 pages ago.
This was a difficult thing to do. I'd say it easily takes the cake for the ugliest thing I've ever been involved in. I did it because it was the only way the majority of pilots would be fairly represented. I am not here to smear these guys. Just explicitly express that there was no doubt that the understanding and/or execution of the power structure of ALPA was upside down. That said, they did the very best they cpuld and every single pilot should shake their hands and look them in the eyes and thank them for their efforts. I don't care who you are, everyone appreciates what was accomplished with Red/Green III.
Other reps are shy to make a stance about whether this will hurt us or not. At this point we have been seeing positive action from the company to our new Chairman. Already a positive greeting has taken place between James and Bendo then Jyri and Rich. James assured them that its business as usual, no major changes are coming in how the union is run in the face of the company, and the contract will be enforced as well as it was up until now. I appreciate Bendo reaching out like he did.
We can talk old guard, new guard party line bla bla bla until we are blue in the face. This was not a political move in any way. This was what needed to be done to get sincere representation of my pilots. Not just my pilots who were in the circles of trust. I never gained the trust circle (as you could imagine) and therefore was never included in proper updates of the status, decision making, or any of the roles an elected status rep has. This was NOT hurt feelings. This was absolutely not how ALPA is run in an open and transparent way.
The time to bury the hatchet of old guard new guard party line BS is past. Bury the dang hatchet. I'm not here to ruin anyone's image. I'm just trying my very best to serve my pilots and be in compliance with their trust.
Speaking of trust. Yes. I recorded calls. The major component of that is I had the app only recording my microphone. Why would I do any of this and why would I revord myself talking to my pilots? Its simple. I would repeat back to the caller what they wanted to see or what actions they wanted or whatever the situation was at the time. Then when the call was over I would have a recording of what I repeated back to them and could write it down later. A lot of calls take place while I'm driving and this was what gave me the idea to do this - WITH THE INTENTION OF HELPING YOU. I recorded my side only, no names were on the recording. The app is called ACR. Feel free to download it and look through it. Its what I used and as far as I understand its legal to record my side of a call at any time, anywhere. Crap if that's illegal, and I'm trying to find out now, then I have to stop. So I disabled the app until I can determine if I can record my microphone. If that doesn't explain it then I don't know what to tell you. Why would I want calls instead of here? Because giving the message to the company on a silver platter wasn't exactly what I had in mind.
Back to my actions at the MEC and in regards to asking the pilot group before taking action. You may or may not have elected us to act on your behalf. If you voted for me I know for a fact if you saw what every rep was dealing with you would support my actions. I don't report back to those who support me and say "well, I'm sorry, but they just won't do what we told them." We voted unanimously for the Chairman to take action on something. He chose to disregard a 6-0 vote by the status reps and do what he felt was right. I respect that and he actually does have that authority. However he is responsible for his actions if we do not approve of them. And that was what did it for me.
