I can't speak for the airbus, but I know the same thing was said about the 757s before Allegiant had time to run them into the dirt because of inadequate maintenance. It goes beyond maintenance though. All support elements, including training, dispatch, manuals, scheduling, ramp, customer service are all horribly underfunded and experience crazy turnover because of crappy pay and frustration. Pilots will deal with that, facing certificate action, every day, contract or not.
