Serious question for you, if you already made good money with 72 hours, why do you need OT?? I think that's the point Joey is trying to make. I can agree an occasional pick up to cover a special toy, but to make that the end all of your vote seems a bit silly to me. Let's say you're a 2011 hire at 5th year pay. Would you give up a quicker $50/hour pay bump in exchange for a longer negotiating timeline and 150%? Everyone's priorities are different, and I totally respect your priorities.
Don't mean to be too cheesy but I can't for a second argue that I don't make good money right now. I don't, however, make nearly enough compared to people doing the same job other places. That means I am under valued. To argue that we need to make more at guarantee VS. 150% is pointless. We all know we need much better hourly rates hence higher guarantee. I am saying that those who decide to work harder should be rewarded for it as other industries are. I am against the side deals that have supposedly gone on in the past and would like OT to be more transparent but not restricted. If you just want your 72 hours that's fine but don't restrict everyone else because of that. It's no secret that pay is the vast majority's #1 priority, hence the "focused negotiations" spiel.
