Day 1 you will arrive in Cruz Bay close to 630pm. You wont need to drive anywhere, walk to the hotel, walk to dinner and drinks. Day two hike to Soloman Beach. Day three Taxi it to Maho Bay Beach, Day 4 you are probably on the ferry to get to the airport by noon. I only rent a car if 1) I dont stay in cruz bay, which is rare. and 2) over a 10 day trip I will usually rent for 2-3 days just to explore the island a little. But IMHO if you stay in Cruz Bay, there is no need to spend $75 to $100 a day on a jeep.

Be aware a lot of the rental paces close by 5 or 6 so if you don't get on island til 630 you will need your own ride to coral bay. There is one rental place open 24/7... not sure which one.
