AAG management tried to circumvent the basic laws of supply and demand (and succeeded) and PSA was all too willing to roll over and help them with their plan. And that is why PSA pilots are looked down upon, whether they were there for the vote or not. They're not called brownstreak, Pond Scum Airlines, etc; for no reason.
It's always gone on at the regionals. You really think it's PSA Pilots fault? Mesa in the early 2000's underbid flying, GoJets, Pinacle Airlines both did it. Regionals have been a dog it dog world forever. Get your time and get the hell out.
Parker offered PSA the 900's like 6 years ago. They told Parker to shove it. Parker said okay and he sent them to Mesa. Did Mesa step up and say no way??? Of course not... they took those 900's with open arms. If PSA had told Parker to shove it again he'd have given more 900's to Mesa again.
I won't blame PSA pilots as much as I'll blame ALPA for letting it happen. ALPA national is just as responsible as anyone.
Even if PSA has a bad name they sure aren't having trouble filling up classes and from what I hear they are making as much or more money then most Regionals with the ability to drop to 65hrs and then pick up flying again at premium values.
And now people from other regionals are jumping over there because if you have 121 time you'll now become a Capt. in less then a year easy because many can't upgrade there now.
It is what it is.
