This scenario happens to many pilots more than you all know and 99% of the time the pilots are completely innocent. Fortuately most of these instances never make it to press. It is ususally a case of "I got the badge sydrome" from some minimum wage TSA person with a chip on his/her shoulder, sometimes fueled by a Jet Lagged Pilot who is frustrated with the system.
Stop the Monday morning quarter backing and give a fellow aviator the benefit of doubt.
Dude, believe me...I'm not bashing the guy. As a matter fact, I hope it was just a misunderstanding and hope the AA continues to employ him. As for your comment, " we are all innocent until proven guilty, are we not?", I sure wish it was that way. Maybe I wouldn't be catching as much hell as I am trying to re-enter the aviation field. "See driving record thread under Regionals."
Keep in mind, nothing personal.
