And how many nights do doctors and lawyers spend away from their homes and families, in the normal course of their work? Pilots should be paid A LOT more for that sacrifice alone, not just the 'pushing metal' part, IMMHO.

Lots of professions spend lots of nights away. That argument won't fly at any negotiating table, which is the only place that it matters.
