And how many nights do doctors and lawyers spend away from their homes and families, in the normal course of their work? Pilots should be paid A LOT more for that sacrifice alone, not just the 'pushing metal' part, IMMHO.

Do you know many lawyers or doctors? Trade sorties about your training vs. that of any US-trained physician's (~7-15 years of virtual slave labor AFTER completing college and competing/testing for the privilege) and you may decide not to compare your profession and pay rates to theirs.
