I'm not sure its such a small thing when you consider the number of IOE events that are taking place and will take place over the next decade.

With AE's coming out 6 times a year, retirements and upgrades taking place and a fleet that has so many types and categories, I'm sure the lost productivity is a factor in pilot staffing. Now they can pay GS pay and recover some of that productivity, but I'm sure the GS acceptance rate is harder for the company to predict .

It would be a real efficiency gain for the company in pay/people to recover some of that FO manpower at straight pay that will otherwise be lost and have to be repurchased at much higher rate.
